Garden / Planting Plans

Below are some exmaples of garden and/or planting designs I have produced, for both private clients and to accompany technical drawings for planning applications. The level of detail shown in each plan varies depending on it's purpose, such as sketched concept plans for a garden design, or formal plans detailing exact positioning and number of plants to be used.

To accompany a planning application for a development of 2 new dwellings in a conservation area, the plans shows boundary planting, existing trees and shrubs and positioning of borders within the garden. Plant list indicates shrub specimens to be used for Plot 1...

After ascertaining how the client would like to use her new garden, these simple concept plans were created to help her decide where she wanted particular features situated, and to choose the overall style. They show ideas for layout and structure of the new garden and include a choice of materials and planting areas.

The client's final choice was a mixture of 2 designs, using the materials from Plan A and the layout from Plan D. A rough planting plan was created to enable me to work out numbers and positioning, and the finished result is visable on the Cottage Garden page of the site.

This is the inital planting plan submitted to planners for a communal garden surrounding a block of flats. This shows boundary planting and specific shrubs and their positioning. As with most developments the brief changes and grows, and in this case new raised beds and extra plants were added. The results can be seen on the Coastal Garden page.

This planting plan for a private garden provides details of the structural plants, such as shrubs and climbers, and lists the herbaceous plants to be used inbetween. It also provides the client with an idea of the colour blocking as you move through the garden. The end result can be seen on the Creating Shape page.
